Cory Knox - Dr. Liston - WK5

This week was cut short with the July 4th celebrations, as Shane was out for Thursday and Friday. To make sure we still had a productive week, I concluded my training on the Stellaris confocal microscope in the imaging core. With that I was able to start imaging various RNAscope slides of the PL in the mouse brain, capturing validation data for Shane's upcoming publication. Additionally, Shane and I laid out a timeline for the upcoming week to test out novelty induced hypophagia (NIH), a behavioral assay similar to suppressed feeding. This will be paired with fiber optic stimulation to the frontal cortex in mice to test TMS-like effects on specific cell populations, fluorescently targeted via AAV injection.

Although this week was short, Shane and I were able to accomplish a lot and prepare ourselves for a long week to come. I am looking forward to putting the NIH assay to use. I have more surgeries and imaging sessions planned as well.
